We were recently tagged by Megan @ BookSlayerReads to do the Secret Life of a Book Blogger tag – thanks so much! You all should check out Megan’s blog because she has the most creative posts/is so nice:)
Here we go!
-What is the best part [of book blogging]?
This is the typical answer but other bloggers/blogs :). I always do a mental happy dance whenever we receive a new comment or start a new conversation *coughs*. The people in the blogging/bookstagram communities are so friendly!
But of course, I love reading others’ posts too, and discovering more about new books or memes or ARCs. I may or may not have accidentally spent a few entire evenings on a wild journey across the internet through dozens of blogs. It’s unavoidable, this obsession.
-What is the worst part?
Probably 1. Thinking of post ideas and 2. Getting our blog discovered. I mean there’s only so many book reviews you want to write before it starts feeling like a chore. Or any type of post, for that matter.
I don’t understand how some people can update their blogs with interesting creative posts daily, like, can I borrow your brain for a few minutes, thanks.
It’s also so difficult being a new book blog. I only recently (as in last few days) began blog-hopping/discovering the book blogging community more. And it’s already started consuming vast amounts of my time but hey, it’s worth it to find all your amazing and wondrous blogs and selves. *cue internet group hug*
-How long does it take you to find/take pictures to use?
Honestly, if I didn’t procrastinate as much as I do it wouldn’t take that long. I just use my bookstagram photos and add text (oops that’s the lazy way but hey, it works). Between choosing a photo/adding text/transferring to my laptop, each one takes… 10 minutes? I’ve been trying to learn some Photoshop basics as well I’m still clueless. If anyone understands Photoshop, this potato could use help…
GIFs take even less time to find, and there’s this intensely satisfying feeling after finding the perfect one.
The internet is a wonderful but strange place, with virtually anything you can think of waiting to be used.
-Who’s your book crush?
*hides behind mountain of book crushes in shame* Shall I just give you the 400 page long novel of all my book crushes or..? Here’s a horribly shortened list of said novel:
- Andrew Minyard from All From the Game series. Sure, he’s gay and madly in love with xxxx, but those are just minor problems. 😉
- Rhysand from ACOTAR series. I definitely don’t spend my days admiring Rhysand fanart, nope, never.
- Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices. Enough said.
KazBrekker,NoahShaw,PercyJackson,GanseyIII,RowanWhitethorn,AlecLightwood,etc
-What author would you like to have on your blog?
This is impossible to answer. Nora Sakavic would be amazing but she kind of terrifies me in her awesomeness. I would probably be a mess if this ever happened. She’s such a kind but down-to-earth author with the most underappreciated masterpiece ever. Also, I’m totally not lurking on her tumblr 24/7 for Foxhole Court extras.
I just really want to know more about my fox children and the inspiration behind them, is that such a bad thing?!?
-What do you wear when you write your blog?
Umm I don’t have a “time-to-write-a-book-review hoodie” or anything. I don’t really know, just whatever I’m wearing that day. If you want to know, right now it’s a shapeless sweatshirt and sweatpants.
-How long does it take you to prepare a post?
It depends. I hate leaving a post unfinished, so usually it’s written and published in one sitting. A post will usually take maybe… an hour or two to get up? Whenever I see how much dedication/the time it takes other bloggers to prepare posts, I feel weirdly guilty.
-How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?
I’m not that immersed in the book blogger community so far but I’d love to be. And there’s always so much going on! But as I said it’s hard to get discovered and I’m pretty hesitant about approaching people, even online. (Why am I such a big introvert? *sighs*). The community seems like a wonderful place to be, though.
-What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?
Being a super new blog, I have absolutely no idea!! Whoopdedoo. I’m still in that experimental faze of trying out everything. But according to larger/more successful blogs, you just need to love book blogging and interact with other bibliophiles. (At least I’m succeeding in the former ;))
-Finally, who do you tag?
I love all your blogs and am looking forward to reading your posts if you decide to do this! 🙂
That’s it and this post turned out to be much longer than I intended, that always seems to happen. xD Thanks for sticking around until here!
Hugs & Fat Cats,
Nicole (yet again)
Thank you so much for tagging me 😱 I can’t wait to do this tag over on my blog 😎

Yay! I’m glad you did the tag 😊 And you made me realize that I totally missed a question when I did mine. Oops. Oh, well. Anywho – Photoshop. I know nothing about Photoshop… I use Canva and this new website I discovered called BeFunky. If you need any help on those, just shoot me a DM on Twitter or Instagram or just email me and I can try to take you through the basics. I’m no professional, by any means. But still. And you’re doing a lovely job with the blog, so just keep up the good work and do what you love and blog hop and you’ll be just fine! This is a great community to be a part of!! ❤️

Aha thanks again for the tag! And really? Which one? All the posts for this tag I could find had slightly different numbers of questions so I wasn’t sure what to do x
Yes Canva is great! Thanks for the offer, will do :).
Aww, you’re too kind, Megan! It seems like it is, thanks again for all the help and advice❤️😊

The one I copied my questions from was missing the “What do you wear when you blog?” question. So I didn’t do that one. But I may just go back and add it in 😉 And you’re very welcome. As always 😊

Thanks for the tag! I’m also in awe of those bloggers who post creative stuff every day… like, how do they find the time, and how do they get all these ideas? I think I’m quite good with posting often, but I’m terrible with coming up with original content. Maybe with practice I’ll get better eventually. 🤔
And as someone who’s been around a little bit longer, I think that interacting with other bloggers is definitely helpful in getting your blog out there. It’s also been one of the best parts of book blogging for me. 💕
